SB Digital
SB Digital is a small, newly started company consisting of two employees. The company’s primary goal is to develop digital teaching and assessment tools and solutions for schools worldwide. We also do courses in ICT implementation and teaching tools and practices. The employees are both practising teachers at in Vocational education and will collaborate closely with the coordinating school during the testing and implementation of our digital solutions. We got specific expertise in Mathematics Didactics, ICT implementation, maker space, teaching programming and teaching science.
SB Digital has well-educated, dedicated teachers with considerable experience working with students with special educational needs and low school motivation. The teachers have much experience in challenging the norms of assessment and evaluation and are continuously working on developing their own- and their colleagues’ teaching practices. For this project, we will focus on developing a web application that can be used for student-driven self-evaluation and teacher assessment.
In an effort to increase students' meta-cognition, their understanding of themselves and their role as learners, we are developing an application throough this project as a tool for self-evaluation. A selling factor is an easy-to-use tool with highly accessible visual insights into students' self-evaluation trends. We imagine an application that, in a few words, might be used for students to answer quick surveys while they leave the classroom.
We also want to challenge the current evaluation practices and will test a prototype of the assessment part of the app last school year with great success. Our goal is to give teachers a way to continuously assess students' competencies without the need for traditional tests. We believe that students show us much of what they know during class, not only through summative assessments.
About us
Jon Bjarne Bø – CEO
Master’s degree in Mathematics Didactics, with additional credits in ICT implementation in education, teaching programming in the classroom and backend development. Jon Bjarne also works in Vocational education as an ICT pedagogue and teacher specialist, working with other teachers to improve their teaching practices. Jon Bjarne has been working in VET for 5 years, supporting and guiding teachers in the classroom on how to implement ICT tools and teaching methods needed to support 21st century skills. He is also very interested in research regarding evaluation and assessment and is working continuously to improve evaluation practices at the school. In SB Digital, Jon Bjarne’s main role is to develop and maintain a web app that is used to evaluate students in the classroom and enhance the evaluation experience for teachers.
Thomas Angell Storhaug – CEO
Master's degree in mechanical engineering, additional credits in mathematics and a degree in pedagogics. Thomas works at in Vocational education as a teaching specialist. He works continuously to evolve teaching and assessment practices, both at an individual level and at an organisational level. In the last few years, he has worked extensively on the implementation of programming in the mathematics curriculum. His work has helped bringing programming to the classroom, as well as been instrumental in the training of other teachers at his school. In SB Digital, Thomas works alongside his partner in developing a web application that will be an aid in elevating assessment practices and students' self-evaluation abilities.
